Over the last decade, the CUNY Office of Research has undertaken an extraordinary effort to enhance and integrate innovation and entrepreneurship across the university system. The goal of this effort is to provide the tools to allow faculty and graduate students to leverage advances in science and technology to seed startup companies that grow the economy. Our startup toolkit includes research facilities, educational programs, internship opportunities, mentoring, training programs, and incubators.
Innovation & Applied Research
IAR’s educational mission uses experiential learning methods to enable CUNY students and faculty to assess whether their research discoveries may benefit their local communities and the country as a whole. IAR is proud to be recognized as the nation’s leader in training underserved entrepreneurs and is committed to expanding our reach in a fair and equitable manner. Our efforts are at the forefront of building an inclusive recovery economy in NYC
CUNY Technology Commercialization Office
Established in 2004 by the Office of Research, the TCO receives new technology disclosures and evaluates them for their commercial potential, facilitates the transfer of CUNY intellectual property by nurturing collaborations with industry, develops a protection and marketing strategy with inventors through patent and copyright protection, and supports the formation of start-up companies.
CUNY Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The shared mission of our innovation and entrepreneurship programming and support infrastructure is to integrate the growing innovation network at CUNY to create a powerful force for translating advances in science and technology into new ventures that create ground-breaking products and services that grow the economy and create jobs.
